Old Car City Blog May 31st, 2017

I recently had the privilege to join my camera club from Orlando Florida on a field trip to Old Car City (OCR) just 50 minutes north of Atlanta Georgia in the small town of White.

The old junk yard started out in 1931 as a family owned car dealership and then morphed into what is know as the worlds largest classic car junkyard touting over 4,000 cars dating from 1971 and earlier.

The 34 acres of prime old rusty junk is a photographers paradise providing plenty of opportunity for some great High Dynamic Range (HDR) images with a grungy look and feel.

I enjoy the time just wondering around all of the old cars and buildings looking for that perfect shot with just the right angle of view.

If you have the chance to visit OCR bring your favorite camera, tripod and some bug spray (sometimes there are a few unwanted visitors) and have a blast.

OCR is opened Wednesday through Saturday, from 9AM to 4PM. It costs $25 to go in and take as many pictures to your heart’s content, or $15 admission, just to walk around and checkout everything. There are also discounts for the military.

I have assembled some of my favorite images from the shoot into a gallery that you can visit here, enjoy. 🙂
